Appearance:
Zahler is much like his mom in appearance. In fact, he is almost the spitting image of Alys with his slight frame and tiny paws. He inherited none of his dad's muscular physique, nor his thick body or coordination. To be honest - Zahler is the opposite. He has muscle mass less than the average cat of his age and shape, can hardly stand pain, and tends to do the most clumsy and foolish of things. From a distance, it is obvious this cat is no threat to prey or enemy phases.
Cloaking this slight frame is a pelt of the purest black. It has no significant length one way or another, nor does Zahler keep it very clean. His activities and lack of grooming have given it a clear appearance of something being amiss, the clumps and dirt in it repulsing many of those in his phase as well as his family. He tends to stay around more herbal areas for some reason, so it would be untrue to say his fur smells bad, but it certainly makes him appear as if diseased.
Orbs of the brightest amber stare out upon the world in front of him, though their ever-constant vacancy suggests he's not actually seeing the world but something beyond it. His eyes are beautiful, striking, but no light shines in them anymore. It's been a long time since Zahler's eyes gave a message aside from one stating nothing's upstairs.
When he's around other cats, Zahler tends to act a little oddly - darting his eyes back and forth as if watching something that's not there and turning his ears to sounds only he hears. Some have even claimed to have seen him talk to imaginary beings, and with his other odd behaviors, few are doubtful.
Personality:
Zahler is sweet, loving - a child at heart. He clings to others without saying much at all, and gets hurt easily, but none of this could make him love any less. He's a cat who would bravely give his life in a heartbeat for someone he didn't know in a situation he couldn't grasp the extent of. The acts that result from this nature are ones often scoffed at as foolish, though Zahler doesn't care, that is, if he even notices.
That brings us to another aspect - Zahler is oblivious. You could mock him to his face and the chances are great that he'd never notice you were unkind. Sarcasm is not in his nature, nor is assertiveness or aggression. If he doesn't understand something that's said to him, he won't ask because he's used to confusion, but the look on his face will leave absolutely no doubt.
Speech from this cat is unusual, though it's often unnecessary as well. You see, Zahler is quite expressive--every emotion he ever feels plays across his face in an unreal way, and he's learned how to show with his body what he wants to say rather than use his voice. Some cats could probably spend their whole day with him, never hear him speak a word, and still have maintained a lengthy conversation with him.
Most notably, Zahler is a little...different. He's convinced he sees and hears cats of the past--and maybe he really does--but most doubt this to be true. However, these cats are as real to him as his own mother and none could ever persuade him they're not there.
History:
Zahler was born to Alys of the Creixent phase in one of the hardest winters the cats had ever suffered through. Out of five kits born, he was one of two to survive along with his brother Brennus. Alys loved both the kits dearly, and when their father left them, her affection only grew all the more for them. She told them they were special, different, and only she could love them fully. The rest of the world would simply never have the capacity to do so.
Zahler and Brennus responded differently to this attention, therefore developing two very different personalities. Zahler was the shadow of his brother, quietly basking in his mother's adoration while Brennus earned admiration from others. Few knew Zahler even existed, but this never made him think any differently of himself. He just admired Brennus for being himself.
Then came the day that all changed.
Alys, in her motherly doting, had failed to notice her son's weakness. He was so tiny, so frail--he looked just unfathomably easy to break along with being clumsy. She took him out by the river, where he slipped many times before promptly falling in. She followed him on the shore while Brennus scoffed against her actions from the point on which he stood. At first, she told herself not to let the words of her son dissuade her, but the more he spoke, the more true it seemed. Zahler was the runt--he had always been weak. Were the runts not to be disposed of?
It is by sheer luck Zahler washed up on the shore alive and yet more luck that a cat had recognized his scent and carried him to his home after making sure he was well. The entire way, Zahler kept asking his guide if he too saw the mysterious pairs of eyes peeking out from the undergrowth and spying on them, whispering things he wasn't close enough to hear.
These cats have continued to visit Zahler throughout the rest of his life so far. This has digusted his mother and his brother to the point of disowning him. Currently, Zahler wanders the phase alone but trying to help as much as he can.

It is unconfirmed whether Zahler is schizophrenic or has extrasensory abilities, even by me. We'll just see how things go, hm?[/blockquote]
