We should establish a SW-canon word for "just a cat". Like "domestic cat" and "house cat" don't really work in this setting, you know? xD And just "cat" is too broad, methinks. Like I'm typing my app for the Últim Trimestre Líder's bio now, and saying despite his lynx (I TOTALLY just spelled this "links" xD) traits he still looks like a normal cat.
"Common cat" maybe? Or can anyone think of a better? Maybe we should have a different "native name" for an average cat, like "Líder" instead of "Leader". If I'm correct in assuming all the names are (if occasionally modified) Latin, maybe "Gatti"? Or "Northmanni" ('normal')? Something of the sort?
Just random thoughts, heh.

Could say 'feline'? 'Feral feline'. 'Feral cat'. 'Wild cat'. 'Jungle cat'.

All those could be mistaken for other cats- lynxes, ocelots, ALCs, etc.
x3 Though the one did make me think "Feraline", lol. "Ferat"? xP ... FERRET xD Rofl<3 Okay so not that one then. "Jungat"? x3 Iunno.
At any rate, I decided to say common cat in the app, but the suggestion is to establish a uniform term is all. :3

Unrelated: o3o Hey Ru. How hard would it be to add a little line or color or something between posts? The flow-together is a little odd, imo. o.o I know the topic info line separates it TOO, but I still think in posts longer than the profile info it could be a little bulky-looking is all. ('x3; Asking because if it WOULD be a total pain, I wouldn't worry, heh. Iz minor, heh.)

Tried adding different shades of lines. None looked good.

Off-topic: No? What about a bar, just 5-10px or so tall (so not quite a "line" but still very thin), the shade of the dropdown menu and form buttons and such? So it's just barely offset from the table color, clearly there but not obtrusive? :3

On-topic: Ferine? Caral? Epicat? *SHOTHARD* x3 Worth a shot.

I like Feraline. But yeah, you could just say feline or feral cat or cat or she-cat or tom or queen or brute... etc.

I agree with Kayla. I wasn't confused or mistaking the Warrior cats when the Erin Hunters were writing the books. And I remember them using the term 'feral cat'. I'll just stick with the ones I said. Hasn't failed me in any cat roleplays yet.
Nah, skin looks fine. Thanks though.

'xD; You guys DON'T GET IT.
I'm talking about a term to DISTINGUISH a domestic cat SPECIES from OTHER species of cats. 'x3; Because Vale has said some OTHER species can be acceptable as well. xD I'm talking about a term for the SPECIES to say "Millie is half Margay and half ___". If you say "cat", a Margay is a cat TOO. So it leaves room for confusion. Even moreso in cases like the one that originally brought this up. In fact, let's go the opposite route. "She looks mostly like a Margay, and not much like a cat at all." ....What? xD Yeah. THAT is the reason for this suggestion.
'x3; NOW do you guys understand what I'm meaning?

Hm, okay, I kinda get that... Feraline doesn't sound that bad, but I'm not sure. Definitely not Epicat. xD I mean, you could always write in the roleplay "house-cat-like build" or whatever, but I get what you're saying. Gat or Gatti sounds terrible, though, lol. (I don't like g's xD)

x3 I don't like G's either, lol. But it sounded better than Felis, Feles, Gattus, or Cattus... xD So yar.

Edit: Nat totally replied while I was replying last time. 'xD;
Late response. Were there other species of wild cats in the Warrior books, interbreeding or not? Lack of anything to BE confused with can certainly help in not confusing, lol.

Hm, well, Felis/Feles doesn't sound that terrible in my opinion.
EDIT: Hey, I have an idea. What about exoticats? After al, just plain old house cats may be "exotic" living in the wild Mayan ruins, eh? Plus, it doesn't sound/look that bad, either. And everyone knows what it means -- they don't have to ask or look up, "what does "Gattus" mean?" If we must have a name for just regular domestic cats, at least.

I like this idea. Perhaps we should have a 'SW terminology' thread?

Yes, our own terms! Like... I don't know. But anyway... exoticats has my vote! I have an idea!
I had no idea how to describe a month in one of my bios. I was NOT gonna use "Moon" because this is not a warriorsrpg. Maybe we could use "Cycle" for a month, and maybe "Twelcycle" for a year. Like "fortnight" is used for Fourteen days.
--- On another note, I have a question. What's a bloodletting ritual?

Bloodletting is when you purposefully cut the human body to release blood. It was associated not only with healing properties, but also sacrifices. For the Mayans, bloodletting was a way to communicate with the gods. Using a shark tooth or an agave spine, the Mayan would cut a fleshy part of the body, letting the blood drip onto incense, bark paper or a piece of cloth. That material would then be burned, and the smoke signified a connection of some sort.
Also, I think a Terminology topic would be nice. A month could be a Passing? Since it takes the moon a rough 28 to 29 days to complete all its phases, we could call it a Passing. Or, use the original word that 'month' comes from, which is 'moonth'. Cycle could work too. A year could also be called a Season? Or a Breadth?

A season...? But a year has four seasons in it. That wouldn't make sense... and thanks for the bloodletting ritual thing... creepy, pretty stupid if you ask me, but eh, it's life.
I think we also need to figure out some traditions, initiations, etc. Right now it's pretty loose...
How about when a new leader has it's first bloodletting ritual, all other phase leaders must be present, heh? And so far, to be doing a bloodletting ritual in the first place, don't they need gods or dieties to like, worship or pray to or whatever? So far, I did not see anything on that.
Ive got more ideas, if you want/need them.
